I received my 944t IC from the good people of www.germanautodismantlers.com
today. I was interested in how it would stack up against the 930 IC I bought
a few years ago, so I took some measurements and made note of a few points
of comparison. I measured the stock IC the best I could with it being inside
the car.

Pics here:  http://home.comcast.net/~urquattro/IC.html  (930 is black / 944t
is silver)

Stock WX urq(approx.): 12.5" wide x 5.5" tall x 2.5" deep, 10 channels,
2.25"(+/-) in/out => Approx. 625 sq.in. horiz. heat exchange area, 15.6
sq.in. frontal heat exchange area (assumes 1/8" ducts)

930: 12" wide x 10.5" tall x 2.25" deep, 20 channels, 2-3/8" in/out =>
Approx. 1080 sq.in. horiz. heat exchange area, 30 sq. in. frontal heat
exchange area (assumes 1/8" ducts)

944t: 18" wide x 5.5" tall x 5" deep, 10 channels, 2" in/out => Approx. 1800
sq.in. horiz. heat exchange area, 22.5 sq.in. frontal heat exchange area
(assumes 1/8" ducts)

I think I'm going to pursue the 944t option (with thanks to Steve Eiche for
a good deal of info on the subject in the past), but I think the 930 option
merits thought. If positioned in front of the radiator or even laid at an
angle in the stock position with some good duct work, I think it could
potentially work pretty nicely, it looks like it would flow very freely, and
it has an impressive frontal area.
