I have a 3B in my garage being prepped to go into my '82 urq.
There are many little items that you need aside from the engine,
manifolds, wiring harness, & ECU. It is certainly much more
involved than an MC upgrade.
Are the cars that much nicer? I don't think so, and I have
driven one with an AAN conversion. My car makes plenty of
power for me with my modded WX (17psi boost, ABT cam), and I
think a modded MC would be even better, though not as good as
the 20vt. For me, the 20vt upgrade is about installing a more
modern, reliable, and fuel/power efficient engine, and having
something a little more unique (though 20v conversions are all
around these days ;). I had already planned on the engine
rebuild, so why not rebuild something better?
>From the bang-for-the-buck and timeliness perspectives, tuning
the WR/WX or swapping in an MC is a better choice. From a
point of personal satisfaction given the effort involved, I
decided on the 20vt (just wish it was an AAN!).

Eric
