[urq] engine & distributor static timing

I'm in the process of checking the static timing of my distributor.

I have located the 0 on the flywheel in the opening on the bell housing at the back
of the engine according to the picture in the Bentley on page 15.14 and 28.36.

I removed the upper timing belt cover and the notch on the v-belt pulley is
lined up with an obvious dimple on the lower timing belt cover.

The small dimple on the back of the cam sprocket is lined up with the edge
of the cylinder head cover as shown on Bentley page 28.14 and 28.36.

With these 3 things lined up in this manner, the distibutor rotor is not perfectly
aligned with the notch on the distributor body as shown on Bentley page 28.14.

Should it be perfectly centered?

Mine is not far off, but I know the hall sender has a certain window within which
it is happy and I wondered yesterday if mine might be just on the edge of where it
might occasionally move outside of the acceptable "window" of adjustment such
that it might occasionally give me an ignition cutout. Am I just chasing my tail?

I'm not going to adjust the distributor just yet until I get some wisdom verification.

Instead, I'm going to go wash the V8 or even the V8's.

Thanks,
Ed
