Brett,

To be completely fair, your request for trimming messages wasn't 
out-of-line.  You're wording in that message reads as quite rude and a bit 
of an attack.  Maybe Eric's response wasn't any kinder, but I'll bet he 
echoed the sentiments of many listers.

Try asking politely, rather than insulting and ordering, and you'll probably 
get the results you're looking for.  Some people are never going to trim 
their messages.  Oh well.  That's too bad.  Some will and that's good for 
all of us if, for no other reason, it makes reading their message a lot 
easier.
