No ridicule from this camp either.....
I do the same, but I use a drift pin instead of an allen head. I use a little dumb-dumb to hold it in the correct socket. I also place a glob of axle grease on the side where the pin comes out to "catch" the pin.

do. The only thing to be careful of is to make sure you've got the
correct Allen bit ... my first attempt I used one I thought was the
right one, but it almost wedged inside the roll pin! Sorry, I don't
have the size for you ... and, I used an SAE size ... as I rarely have
call for them in the intended use ... ;-)
