Brandon,
I just finish cleaning and stripping my new-to-me Fuchs and I discovered a
few things.
1- The entire wheel looks like it was anodized before painting. The
backside is only anodized, no paint.
2- The spokes have a very hard to remove white paint under the silver
paint.
3- With common paint stripper, the silver paint "bubbles" rapidly, but the
white paint needs a Scotch-Brite, elbow grease and paint stripper.
4- Anodizing is unattacked by the paint stripper. I am still undecided
about what to do with it. Remove it with Easy-Off (heavy-duty, contains lye
to attack the anodizing) or leave it as is and bead blast with fine glass
bead.
As they are now, cleaned and aluminum natural looking, they are very nice
wheels. Now, I have to decide how I want them refinished...
To follow...

Guys-
So I dropped my R8's off at SpecWheels Of Amercia this morning to have them
refinished. I wil be going with a slightly darker than factory finish.
They said standard procedure for them is to only paint front face - not
inside of wheel - however it will be covered in primer. We looked at the
wheel and it appers to have no finish - primer or paint - on the inside.
So I'm figuring this should be fine.
Am I missing some info?
Concerns from anybody who knows about this stuff?
Anybody with a set of brand new wheels care to look at their set and
verify? I know they are a few pairs out there...I know of two in-box sets
in Denver....
Thanks
Brandon
