get that tranny warmed up, remove the fill plug first, then both drain
plugs, and dump the gear oil, be sure you have 4 quarts of Redline synthetic
80-90w GL-4 gear oil on hand to fill it back up (3.4 quarts) and a way to
put the stuff in,(rose gun works well) you will love the difference. my '83
URQ black bitch and my Son's '86 4000CSQT with 300BHP beast run synthetic
gear oil, the notchy feeling when cold is gone. Bestus, Bill

Subject: [urq] Gear Shift Lever
1986 Audi 4 door Quattro with 282,000km.
In cold weather the gear shift lever is hard to pull into 2nd gear, when
rolling at 10km/hr the gear shift lever hard to put into 1st gear, putting
into 2nd gear will work but little vibration because Tacho shows < 1200rpm.
When running for 15 minutes no problem with shifting, never problem shifting
into any other gear at any temperature.
Would change of 80/90 transmission oil help to shift smoothly?
Max
