In my opinion, and maybe to play devils advocate a little, this COULD be
seen as a good thing. I am NOT trying to support what Audi is doing to UrQ
owners by any means, but heres another outlook.
After going through this list, it is VERY obvious that Audi is trying to
move parts that are VERY slow movers. I would venture a guess that as much
as 75% of that list is stuff you would never want or even think of buying
from Audi. Furthermore, I would guess that most of the parts on that list
have gone for years with zero sales. Now, at 3000EURO for a Sport Q
downpipe (for example), I wouldnt buy one from Audi either. They are by no
means trying to wash their hands of the UrQ forever by trying to fire sale
the parts on that list. There will still be a ton of parts for the UrQ
available from your local Audi Dealer.
So, what you rather see: A) Audi hanging onto these parts forever because
they are so damn expensive B) Audi throws them in the trash and writes them
off as the cost of doing business and say, "now we dont have to count them
again" or C) Drop the price as much as 70% and sell them to people who may
be able to put them to good use?
I, personally, ordered ONE part off that list and I would be the first to
call myself a parts whore. Now, if you are a Sport Q owner, this is your
time! As they say, Act now, limited time only, One time offer, or
whatever cliche' you want to belch out. There are parts on that list that
will save your ass down the line and you will not be able to get ever again
and the prices are actually reasonable and borderline cheap.
So, as owners, do we take advantage of the situation and get what we can
into actual owner's hands? or do we bitch about it? Yeah, there are going
to be a ton of people that snap this stuff up and re-list it on Ebay. Could
it be said that, at least they HAVE hit the market? Let Ebay set the
market, not Audi!
I think the biggest pisser about the whole thing is the fact that there is
no one "handiling" these parts in the states. You can't call your local
dealer, because 90% the part numbers aren't even in the AoA part number
system because they are for euro cars. Even if they are in the AoA system,
I seriously doubt that the "Sale" price would be reflected. So, good luck
to us!
Devils advocate mode off: Before you light your flamethrower, I 100%
believe that Audi has forgotten us forever and we will all be forced to
re-engineer the car at some point, just to keep them on the road. I have
exchanged private e-mails with Mike H. and I agree with him that, on top of
being left out in cold with our cars, they are just slapping us in the face
with the Fire Sale. Im just saying that I would much rather see that
brand new Sport Quattro <insert your favorite rare Sport Quattro Part Here>
resting in some Sport owners garage than sitting in Audis warehouse
waiting to get thrown away or mislabeled or ???????
Anyway, thats my $0.02 and maybe even less.
Ben
