[urq] : A/C - fan always on?

It seems you are right Andrew- the 84/85 cars cycled the fan on and off.
What I don't like tho is that the even later cars -'91 200 20Vs, and now
the A4's etc etc went back to constant fan use - by turning on the
secondary elec fan, in addition to the primary clutched fan which
_always_ turns w/ the motor - so these later car _always_ have airflow
through the radiator...

I like that, personally. Hence my thoguht for a manual fan switch...

I just sold an '85 4000Q with perfectly working AC and it cycled the fan
on and off too. If you look at the wiring diagrams for the early AC
(found in the Haynes manual) and compare it with the diagrams for the
later style AC system in the Bentley you'll see why it cycles on and
off. Doesn't mean having the fan on high all the time isn't good for the
overall cooling of the motor, which is taxed with the AC on, but I'm
almost positive that's not how it works on the later cars. I'm sure
that's how it works for the older cars.
