  I have had the same concerns about the timing belts on my Audis as well.  If you have a timing light, check your timing on the flywheel (warm idle should be 6-8% BTDC on the WX).  Then shine the timing light through the little hole in the back of the timing belt cover, right next to the valve cover, where you line up the mark with the valve cover gasket.  It should be within a degree or two of the flywheel if it's on the right tooth.
