... I guess I'm a bit surprised ... and a bit disappointed by this sort of comment ... the audifans somehow managed to get folks from all over the country together 10 years ago ... two years in a row. The Pikes Peak Hillclimb was the stated goal, but it really isn't that much of a spectator event ... I certainly wouldn't drive 2 days there for the event. I'd prefer that we work on optimizing the UPG 2008 event, to try to get the biggest number of participants possible ... then perhaps we can talk about stuff like secondary meetings. Perhaps we want to end up planning the coastal "events" as part of the main event ... I don't know, maybe folks from the left coast can meet in Tahoe and folks coming from the east can meet where they think is appropriate ... with those who can continuing on to the common meet. Hey, I don't know if that's practical, just tossing ideas out. I don't know if I'd want to hang around somewhere for more than a day along the way.
The thing is that the regional events are much easier to plan ... I'd hope that we could focus on the location for a common event. My car has been on some pretty major whirlwhind tours and while it has scared me a bit at times, it hasn't let me down yet. I really want to make this happen ... and hopefully we can find enough folks here who feel the same way.

I still think its important to find where our most-likely-to-attend
core group is andwork towards that.
I guess it would be great to have this nationwide UrQ gathering, but Im
just being a realist and accepting early on that we need an east and a
west to make everyone happy - not even happy, just making it possible
to travel in a reasonable time frame.
I would take scenery and nice roads over a track, are we forgetting
that we are driving UrQ's? Most are lucky to make a round trip to the
grocery store lol ok, well, maybe not that bad - but...
