That's been my main complaint on the 83 UrQ is the huge gap between the 2/3
shift with the mostly stock car I was having to really wind up in 2nd so I
could be at a rev level to do anything when I shifted into 3rd. Take a wild
guess why overreved my stock 10V during a track day.

My secondary complaint was every Subie in the world could beat me off the
line, but once I hit 2nd and into boost I'd run all over them....even though
I'm not necessary looking for the off the line....yeah sure!

Rob and Mike have good points. I personally like the ratios on the 84+
tranny. Whereas the earlier trannies have a gap in the gearing between 2nd
and 3rd I believe. And yes you will want a 4kq rear diff if you use the 200
tranny.

So I've been planning on just using the original 83 UrQ trans and
differential with my AAN motor.

I'm so close to actually getting this portion of the project done..hopefully
soon!

So am I correct..if I use the UrQ trans there isn't anything I need to do to
make the speedo work. RIGHT?

Understand there is some notching necessary to the UrQ trans bell housing,
someone pointed me to some instructions once; but they weren't very clear or
I couldn't wrap my head around it completely?? I can't find the info..

Would appreciate a resend or anyone else's help?

When switching to the 91 200 Trans is it necessary to also switch the
differential from the 91.I've got both available.

But my biggest question is why switch from a UrQ trans, for the different
gearing of the 91 which is 4:11 VS the UrQ of something like 3:89.? In my
case I'm not specially looking for off the line acceleration, which in my
mind would be the 4:11 advantages (but there might be other ads as well?).
