[urq] Clutch M/C

ISTR from long ago others indicating that the linkage on the replacement parts was too short.  Since your car apparently did not have the clutch M/C installed it is difficult to say.  The newer quattros didn't have the M/C mounted to the firewall, so the linkage is shorter.  
 
If you believe that you received the incorrect replacement part it and yet have the old M/C you should be able to transfer the linkage from the old M/C to the new one.  If you take off the boot the linkage goes in to on the M/C you will see that there is a clip that holds it in the M/C's bore ... remove the clip from the two parts and swap the linkage from one to the other and reinstall the clip.  BTDT ... although I think it was on a 4kQ.
