[V6-12v] v6-12 to 1.8T engine conversion

Has anyone try to convert a 90 v6-12v into 1.8T? The car in question is a 93
90cs FWD. The engine came from a 96 A4. I am not sure if it was FWD or
Quattro. I am asking on behalf of my brother-in-law. He blew out the v6 at
140K miles. The car used to be mine, I would like to see it on the street
again, and so would he.
