[V6-12v] Bad fuel pump???

Thanks Tom.

I've been hearing horror stories from people with rusted banjo bolts, etc.
The filters in the engine compartment are usually clean and easy to do.
Some A4 owners with the filter under the car have mentioned that sometimes
they have to drop the tank a few centimetres to get at the filter, thus the
sad face.  But you have given me hope.  I have not tackled the fuel pump job
yet.  I'm waiting for the pump to die.  (it is running good now).  I have
the filter from the dealer and a pump.  Just waiting for the right time or
when the old pump decides not to pump anymore.
