Looks like some shop will have to patch things up.  I was afraid of that.  I
have never found an exhaust shop I could trust.

replacement. The cats were falling apart and we just had them done at a
local meineke shop. They had a unit that matched up perfectly and cost quite
a bit less than what Audi quotes. Now there is a difference in the
construction, the Audi units are double walled coming from the header to the
cat and the down pipe and converter are constructed as one piece. The
replacement piece was just the catalytic converter. So far as the resonators
and mufflers are concerned I've had that done on earlier Audi's and I've had
good success getting units from Summit parts catalog and having them
installed locally. You just have to be careful in matching up the dimensions
on the units so that they fit where the current units are. The critical
point I feel is finding a shop that does good exhaust work.
