[V6-12v] Timing Belt - Dealer Response

Hi Casimiro,

FYI, the dealer wanted $1400-$1600 to do mine. The independent shop wanted
$400 labor, and allowed me to supply the parts. I got a timing belt "kit"
with all OEM Audi parts from Shokan (water pump, thermostat, belt, idler
pulley) for something like $200. So basically, it was less than half price
from these guys. They were more than qualified to do the job.

  Austin:

Thank you for the offer. I am in Northern Virginia and although there are
some independents in the area, they all charge about the same as the dealer.
There seems to be one such good independent in Virginia, but he is 3 hours
away. I will keep looking in the meantime.

  Regards

  Casimiro

  Hi Casimiro,

Why not get some prices from some non-dealers that specialize in Audis?
If
you are in the New England area, I can recommend one.

  Regards,

  Austin
