The rear suspension VW used on its 1st generation Scirroco is completely different than the rear suspension Audi used on its FWD 4k and Coupe models. Attempting to compare the performance of the two is further complicated by the other design differences between the two chassis. And as you've pointed out, comparing a racing setup to a street setup is another matter altogether...

In my experience, you can't just install a rear a/r bar on a FWD 4k or an UrQ and expect it to perform miracles. On the other hand, if one is installed as part of a complete suspension package that addresses the intentional tradeoffs inherent in the OEM design, then it might work great. It's a matter of tuning the various bits-and-pieces so they work together as system, not just bolting-on parts because you can.
