Pulled alternator, got voltage regulator kit from Advanced Auto $35, cleaned
up contacts on armature, no noticeable play or noise in bearings, install
voltage regulator, install alternator, charge battery, 13.9-14.2 volts
again!

Bob,

I replaced my regulator/brushes from a kit at Advance Auto or Auto Zone
(some generic auto parts store right here in downtown Worcester MA). I
think it was about $20. This was about 2 years ago (after shorting the reg
out from a lower-pan-less dip into a salty pot hole). Been working fine
ever since--it's the original alternator with 200K on it (brushes replaced
at 120K). Quite easy job if I remember--do have to pull the alternator.

Lost the alternator on the trip home to family gathering for
Thanksgiving.
Only had to be towed 100 miles back to the house. I remember some
postings
about replacing the brushes and the voltage regulator? Bosch
rebuild
centers? The V8 archives are still MIA.
Would like to rebuild, any suggestions or ideas?
	Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving,
