I have been running 235/45-17 on 17*8 inch wheels on my '93 for two
summers now. Here in Spokane we have a real problem with ruts - studs?
- on the freeway.
In fact my wife won't drive it on the freeway locally, and I have had it
aligned twice since I got the wheels. Anyway, when I put ther winte
tires on it this fall, the left front summer tire has worn through on
the inside shoulder to the belt. Ouch. Apparently it rubs on the wheel
well on hard left turns. Right appears to be ok, and nothing else
touches. My question - I have checked tire sizing and according to a
couple of charts, tires sized 215/50-17 are .55% (821 rpmile vs 817 rpm)
larger than the 235/45's. I figure that the narrower 215's could
possibly be run up front without interference with the wheel well. But
I don't know, I don't want to destroy the balance, handling or the Q
system. Any thoughts?
