[V8] Radio Theory ... and troubleshooting

Chime? If the car is off, my radio is off. It can't stay on without it. It
had an aftermarket radio in it when I got it, but I've since replaced it.
Does it need constant power from the radio or just a signal to turn itself
on and off? (like the remote wire for an audio amplifier) Is there a way to
use both front and back antennas with an aftermarket radio? I never listen
to AM so losing it wouldn't be a big deal. Can I do that? Can I just splice
the two antenna wires together and then plug it into my radio?

... that would be an excellent thing to check ... especially if you did the
installation yourself and do not remember doing this deliberately. Does the
chime ring if you have the radio on and open the driver's door when the car
is shut off? If the chime does not ring it is likely that your antenna amp
is not getting power.
If the FM reception is passable but the AM reception is poor you might want
to make sure that you have the cable for the rear antenna attached to your
deck. The amp for the front antenna is set up for FM operation only ...
