[V8] "Major Surging"

Ok now that I have totally screwed it up. After 30 minutes of going back and forth with rust blaster I got the O2 sensor out but screwed up the black wire connection at the head. What does the black wire do and can I splice into it somewhere? I broke the connector off right at the connecting block (didn't realize it was a "slip on" connector.
Now I know why I stopped working on my own cars years ago!!!!
Also, anybody know what thread the O2 sensor is? I need to clean the threads up a little - part of the O2 sensor threads are still in the X-pipe.
