[V8] Oil Change woes!!! Filter stuck!

... and I quote from the V8 Service Training manual:

"...components were designed as integral parts of
the engine block. For example, the oil
thermostat housing, oil filter flange, engine
coolant thermostat housing, water pump
housing, and the crankcase ventilation system
are all part of the engine block."

This from page 1 no less.

I don't want to take away anyones fun - I just want  you to know the 
filter flange is part of the block and it will really suck to mess it 
up.
And don't get me wrong - I am a huge fan of the "hot wrench". I use 
mapp gas if you must know :-)
But it seems like a last resort to put a torch to this thing. The 
dremel idea may work if you can get it in there, but again - if you 
nick the sealing flange you are going to have a huge problem.

I can't quite believe your "tool" did not work. Can you work a razor 
blade between the filter and flange? I doubt you have the room for that 
but maybe you can get it started that way.
