[V8] 3.6 in an Audi 90

I got an email from a friend of ours in Belorussia who has put a 3.6
PT motor into an Audi 90 w/ manual gearbox (originally quipped with a
2.3 NG motor).

He says the motor wont start and has found that the fuel pump is not
getting a signal from pin #3 of the ECU.  He also says there is no
spark.

One thought he had was that the ECU is expecting a signal from the
TCU, but it is not installed now that the car is a 5spd.  I asked him
to follow Scott's instructions to blink the trouble codes and am
waiting to hear what he says.

Anyone have any advice to give him?  I know that Nate tossed out the
Motronic ECU and went with the 034efi solution ...
