John,
The first advice I'd give is go in through the passenger side. I usually 
start at the rear. With a bent coat hanger (my preference) it takes around 
30 seconds in most cars. The V8 will probably be a little more dificult, but 
I've done 5000's and the're a snap.

When you are doing it, first thing si to hold the weatherstripping back with 
a wedge of some sort. I carry a door shim in my car (and the coathanger, 
done quite a # of cars). The other thing is, watch for whem the lock knob 
starts to move. You know you have found the linkage when that happens. Then, 
just work around there and pull and push till you get it.

That's another reason not to use the drivers side. You could pull off the 
wires for the lock heater.
