Since I drive a '93 V8 every day I thought I would
make some comments on the stock brakes, which as
Jeremy has said are the same 276mm (10.9 in) diameter
as the S4.
Under normal driving and some very fast exit ramp fun,
I have found the stock brakes to be more than adequate
to stop the car. The only downside is that it does
take more effort - if you want to stop faster - push
the pedal harder. The car does stop very well, and you
can push as hard as you want until the ABS kicks in.
This has not happened to me once in 2 years of
spirited driving.
Other than requiring a bit more pedal pressure, I
think the brakes are fine for most street driving.
Track use, of course, is another case since heat
issues come up very quickly in hauling a 4000 lb car
down from 100+ mph repeatedly. Any of the brake
upgrade kits will help when using a larger rotor such
as the A8 and a different brake pad compound.
Regards to all,
Michael
