[V8] Transmission refill

I went back to my Audi of America service manual pdf and it still says on page
32-10-3 approximately 3 litres (3.1 quarts).

Hmmm, that must be wrong the answer is: add a quart, or abt 0.8 litres. Okay,
I'll try again and hopefully keep the kickdown ability I gained when I changed
the fluid.

On another trans-related issue, I spoke to a Ford engineer recently who said
that synthetic can play havoc with an older transmission. I take it you guys
haven't had any such issues?
