So, after several frustrating hours of pulling, prying, yanking and
pounding, I'm standing there beside the car reviewing the bumper cover
removal process. Six nuts, right? And I look at my pile of nuts there.
Wait, something's not right here. I've got EIGHT nuts. WTF? I should
have six. So I have four nuts, referenced earlier as the "more forward"
set, two from each side, that I didn't need to take off and I have two that
haven't been removed yet. It's the two "hidden" ones, one on the inside of
each flange at the end of the frame rail. I never saw them and I'm not
sure how I got them out with no room for a ratchet and no visibility to
determine whether the socket was on them, but they're out and the cover is
on the floor. Guess what two nuts will be impossible to reinstall when I
put that sucker back together?
Thanks to all for their suggestions. No thanks to Audi for a
struggle-to-service design.
