[V8] Cruise Control Wiring

As many of you may be aware, the wiring that runs through the driver's side
door gets worn out and sometimes actually breaks due to repeated opening and
closing of the door (another good reason to enter and exit your car through the
driver's side window.) Some time ago, my cruise control and sunroof stopped
operating. Through frustration, I examined the wiring described above and
found several wires that had indeed broken in half. I repaired those and the
cruise control and sunroof began to work.
A year or so later, they are not working. Last night I went back into the
wiring that goes inside the door (through the accordian rubber boot) and those
two wires had broken again. I fixed them (using techniques approved by NASA and
the World Council on Stupid Wiring Problems). The sunroof now works, the
cruise control doesn't.
I checked my soldering (again, using techniques approved by NASA and the
World Council on Stupid Wiring Problems) and it seemed OK. I'm guessing that
there may be another wire that may be broken that I have missed (it may be broken
inside the insulation and not visible to the naked (or semi-dressed) eye.)
My attempts to track the wiring via the book led to near-suicide -- hence
this plea to the group as to whether there is anyone with BTDT experience,
especially as to which wire (color code gets you bonus points) might be at fault.
Fuse #5 is OK.
I'm leaving for an extended road trip on Sunday -- a functional cruise
control would be nice to have.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Brad Hartman
