The tach bouncing means no spark signal. Now, as to why, as Steve said, pull
codes. Easy enough, and will save you time and $$$.
If you find the RPM sensor bad, here's some advice. First, replace them
both. It's easy enough, and cheap insurance. Next, if you plan on keeping
the car, and you want the job easier next time, use 5000 Turbo sensors. They
have a longer pigtail, and you can relocate the bracket to the firewall,
rather than where it is right now - you'll see.
Oh, the resistance should be right around 1000 ohms. I believe that is
between the two outer terminals, but it's been a while.
