[V8] Ever wonder why the newer Audis (and other cars) are sooo heavy?

This too can be deceiving.  Most admit VW is actually loosing money in the
US.  While BMW just passed Mercedes as the top US luxury brand.  German
Unions may be even more onerous than in the US.  German co's are now trying
to get the work week back towards 38 hrs per week, after dropping it years
ago from there to ~32 while not decreasing pay.  Now they "need" to go the
other way to remain competitive without increasing wages.  Good luck with
that, all this while Toyota just outsold Ford in the US.  "Times they are a
changin"

I keep Bloomberg Live in the background as I work, and as I looked up the
bottom banner was reporting that VW/Audi expects record breaking profits
for 2006.  Not much incentive to change, and one hulluva coincidence. ;-)
