Has the battery been unhooked?? Or you get the car
with this condition Alex?? But
in any event you just need to clear the code with the
VAG COM
& theres a yahoo grupee ;).....that lists members in
your area that are willing too let you use theres...or
help you clear the codes.

 Thanx

Hey Alex, welcome to V8 ownership and the list.

I will echo Steve's comments about checking things out
with the VAG COM
tool. There is a 2 pin connector for talking to the
airbag behind the
radio
wrapped in grey foam that is the same style of
connector as the 4 ODB1
connectors in the passenger foot well (below floor
mat).

I had this same issue with mine for about a year. I
took it into the
dealership and they said "dunno, it's an old car; it
will do weird
things.
You know, most people drive new Audis (hint hint)"
They didn't know
about
the connector behind the radio, let alone the fact
that Audi made a
model
called the vee-eight! ;-)

On mine I had the airbag recall done. Dealership
should be able to
tell you
this based on VIN. Post-recall there is a missing
energy module under
the
driver's side rear seat. Mine has the wiring harness
hacked off at
that
location. They then replaced the airbag control
module behind the
radio
(it's hovering above the transmission tunnel) with an
integrated unit -
control module and energy reserve all in one.

I don't know anyone locally with the tool, so I never
reset mine. It
has
now gone from the 2min 'warm up warning' to on
constantly. I should
really
find a scanner to look into it as mine (unlike yours)
it *totally*
non-functional...

Good luck,

- Jeremy

I have owned my V8Q for about 6 months now. Since I
have owned it, the
airbag light comes on for about 2 minutes on start-up
and then turns
off.
How do I interpret that? Has it decided that it
actually does function
properly, or is Audi trying to avoid overloading me
with information by
turning the light off after some period of time even
though the airbag
has a
problem?

Cheers,

Alex Stickler
