[V8] engine rattle

On my 5spd it's really noticeable.  So much so that I won't be using it
until I've changed it. 

Sunday I changed the thermostat on the '90 V8 (the old one was opening too
soon so not much hvac heat in the winter).  I'm pretty sure I recognized a
similar sound coming from it too.  It's not nearly as bad as my 5spd, but as
I suspected, it looks like I'll be doing both of these.

Sweet.

On both, I changed everything else, belt rollers, idlers, tensioner, damper,
damper arm, friction pad, w/p of course.  I just don't recall ever seeing
mention of the oil pump bearing as a maintenance item.  If I had, I'd have
done it for sure.  Guess I'm really going to hone my V8 t-belt skills here
pretty soon.  Fortunately with my 5spd needing it first, I should be pretty
proficient when I do the '90 which really needs to be out of service for as
little time as possible.  

Oh yeah, from the look of the inside of the right front summer wheel I just
took off, it needs a new outer passenger side cv boot up front too.

Sweet.

I used my gf's Firebird today to go to the hardware store and a doctor's
appt.  It's been drizzling since yesterday.  No way I'd give up quattro.
And all in all, the V8's together have been less trouble than one 200 or one
urq.
