Scott,
Thanks for the reply - I have pulled one of these before - it is the
easiest motor I have ever pulled, BTW. And, I know I can pull the motor
cheap - but this one only has 110k on it and it runs like a scalded dog?
Idle is even smooth on it. I have a motor with 185k that was out of my
last v8, and it was a great motor - but I don't want to put a motor with
that many miles on it in this car. Anyway, I put some oil in the cylinder
which upped the compression - so that says to me the cylinder itself has a
problem - you were saying that this would mean the top end is worn? How
so? The oil shouldn't even get up there. I really want a borescope in
times like these. My original thought was 'why is this one cylinder low'
- so it lead me to belive I could have a slightly burned valve or a
sticking valve due to carbon deposits on the valve stem, causing it to
stick just partially open. I'm going to pull the intake and take a look
at the intake valves before I panic. I wonder also if this could cause my
o2 code? I know the answer will be - yes, because it is not burning the
fuel efficiently in that cylinder - but I don't know if I buy that. I
know I am going all over the map with this post - but I guess I need to
vent and this helps me think through it. Thanks again.
Jason
