Its direct drop in. Just plug all the holes for the egr stuff(you wont be
using it). Did you do the compression check with the motor cold or warm?
(repair manual says to do it warm). Truth is, it could be anything from a
sticking oil ring, to bent valve from a previos belt job done incorrectly to
a head gasket ect ect. I would pull the affected cylinder's spark plug, and
pour some sea-foam down there(with engine warm) and let soak for half hour.
