[V8] abusive relationship

Dave,

It's not the oil pump specifically, it's the oil pump drive bearing.
There was a lot of grumbling about this last year when there were a few
owners who all did a TB service close together. I believe (no personal
experience), but that bearing is under a bit of a load, both from the
shaft it is driving, and then from the other angle the pully (TB) that
is driving it for so long that it finds a "home" of sorts, then the TB
service is done and the stress has "moved" or changed forces slightly,
causing a noisy bearing.

I don't believe that there should be a concern about the pump failing,
but rather that drive bearing. The what to do, get the replacement and
drive it, and when you find a spare day pull it back apart and do a
switche-roo. Sure it's a PITA, but you have enough invested, that it
shouldn't deter you from doing it.

I hit it pretty good with the garden hose when it was warm and up on the
ramps. I think I got it pretty good - but I will definitely give'er a
good
douch'in before I put it back on the road.

But now I am worried
about the oil pump. Has anyone actually replaced one for being noisy? Or
worn out? As far as I know, oil pressure is fine. Since this seems to
happen to so many people after changing the t-belt, I just figured it
had
to do with belt tension somehow, but if it is all in spec - and mine is
-
then what can you do?
