[V8] Help! Hood won't open!

Brian,

Originally there is a cover (the underbelly pan) that covers the engine
compartment area on a V8, it also has two ducts that directed air from
the front of the car over into the front brakes to help keep them cool
;-)

If you look at the cross member there's a couple of small rubber, what
look like numbs, on the end of those were screws, and the cover attached
to those points. 

Chances are it was gone (the cover) long ago.
