[V8] V8 leaking oil... again... and again

I too belong to the smoking V8 club. 
My observations are I only get a substantial amount of leaking after  running 
on the highway with constant 5+ bar pressure. Just doodling around never  
seems to be an issue of getting ANY drips, but after I get off the highway  and 
sustained running I get enough oil leaking to leave a 6 inch ring. Very  weird. 
Replacing the valve covers seals made zero difference. 1 Quart every 1000  
miles, so not truly too bad.
Maybe the head needs a re-torque to offset the head rise when cylinder  
pressures are high for sustained periods??? I will re-tighten them when I  do the 
T-Belt I guess.
Funny, 16V VW's (very similar heads) don't have this issue at all. Maybe  the 
cant of the heads versus the closer to upright position of the VW helps stem  
the loss.
