Another guess: no spark and no fuel points to the ECU not letting that happen. 
It could be the ECU doesn't get a signal from the CPS, and so isn't letting fuel 
and spark happen. It could be the ECU is dead [1].  Does the ECU have a fuse? 
Maybe its blown.

[1] I bought my '94 100 S avant with a dead ECU. Water leaking past the 
windshield, down the wires behind the passenger kick panel, and into the ECU 
killed it.  I had to cut back the corroded connector and wire in a new connector 
to the new/used ECU.
