[V8] v8 timing q.

I would take off the distributors in the rear, check at TDC compression that the 'groove' that the distributor shaft rides in is parallel with the surface of the head where the valve cover gasket meets.  If it is off a few degrees it will cause problems.  The only real way this can happen on this motor is that the belt would have skipped a tooth.  If the cam slipped in relation to the timing gear it would have done that when the belt was replaced, not 'down the road' so to speak - in my opinion.  Hope this helps.
