My friend has a Prius Hybrid. He gets 50 mpg around town, where we get about 
17.5 mpg, (maybe 18?) This may be stop gap technology, but it has features that 
make sense. While braking, there is electrical power generated at the wheels with 
an electro brake booster. This innovation is like the old SAAB that had a clutch that 
disengaged when you weren't riding the gas pedal to give a coasting experience 
that would save gas.
We should be thinking of innovations that could increase our mileage/gallon. I 
know someone must be working on it.
