That is good to know. I wonder if it will handle the under hood heat?
I have mentioned before, at least here in Boise America, getting a fuel
line rebuilt costs about $10, and they do it while I wait. It just takes
a few minutes. The first time I did it (maybe 6 or 7 years ago) I did not
specify the hose to use, and it did not hold up to the heat. This time I
used a hi heat rated hose (400F oil temp), but it still does not have the
hard(er) plastic inner tube that the factory uses. I have seen no problem
with this other than the heat degradation but an old Saab mechanic I was
talking to a while back said he tried doing this with a Saab hose and the
car would not even run. The problem (he said) was the hose flexed under
pressure and messed up the fuel injection pulses. Audi being Audi, there
is probably a reason they spec hose like this, and the Saab guy had a
believable story, proved out when he replaced the hoses with factory and
everything was fine.
SO - for me anyway, I have rebuilt 5 hoses for about half of what one new
one costs without any apparent problems.
