If you're in Canada, blame your postal service and customs. There is no
insurance or tracking for the cheaper services to Canada. Even a small
item the size of a couple packs of playing cards, which can ship in
Priority Small box costs twice as much to ship to Canada than inside the
US (even if the distance to Canada is shorter) and you have to add about
$25 extra to ship the same thing if you want a service which provides
tracking and insurance. Alaska even gets the same rate as all the other
states.
England is the worse, shipping to and from England is obscenely expensive
and limited insurance offered, it's cheaper to dispatch something to New
Zealand or Australia than England.
Canadian shipping is almost the same price as shipping to Australia. The
other services such as DHL, UPS etc. are only cheaper if you get into
much larger weights and dimensions.
It's just not worth the added hassle and time to many people. I ship
anything, anywhere, I just make sure and let the buyer know exactly what
the shipping options and charges are going to be. If they opt. for the
cheaper service with no recourse if something goes awry, if something
does go wrong, you'll still get grief from them 90% of the time.
BCNU,
Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes.
