[Vwdiesel] oil pressure problems tried everything

Hi Dave;
I had a similar problem a few years ago on my 85 Jetta td. I had
the block out to replace the intermediate shaft bearings.The engine
repair shop that did the work for me cleaned the block before
working on it. The stripped everything off of it before putting it in the
degreaser tank. Everything included the very important steel
bushings that support the oil pump shaft. I didn't notice until after
the engine was all together and running that the oil pressure was
low. After considerable looking it was determined that the bushings
were missing and the oil was pouring out around the shaft back
into the oil pan causing a loss in pressure for the rest of the
engine. The bushings are not listed as a replacement part and are
considered part of the block. The only way to get some if they are
missing is to salvage some from an old block. As far as I know just
about any water-cooled VW block that uses that style of pump will
do.
Good luck in your search for a solution.
