[Vwdiesel] Emission testing in Ontario, Canada

There was some discussion in the States some years ago about getting old
smoggers off the street by offering a reward of around $200 for turning them
in to scrap yards.
That price held whether it was for a junker on blocks behind the garage
or a late-60's performance showcar. Collectors raised a dozen kinds of hell
and after the proposal died it came out that the auto industry had been
pushing the idea as a means of boosting new car sales during a recession.
It appears that the loophole is that if there were no standards for
light Diesel engines during the year of manufacture, a bit of judicious
hollering might result in a mere cursory inspection. An even easier
expedient might be to turn down the smoke screw on the pump for the
inspection.
Depends on what lengths you'll go to in order to torment bureaucrats.
