Is your fuel injection pump leaking around the pulley wheel at all?
Sometimes it can dribble out there causing power loss. My Rabbit wore
this part out, and when it would just sit there idling, it would lose
RPMs until it finally died. It would restart immediately afterwards,
and start all over again.
Just a thought...

My diesel Bunny pickup decided it won't run right. Cruising along at
highway speeds and then pedal to the metal to pass someone and then it's
like it can't get any fuel. I just gradually slows down until it's pull
off and stop time. The speed of the pickup brings fuel up briefly and
it runs fine again for awhile, but eventually checks out. I can feel it
not having any power in the accelerator pedal as I'm driving, but how to
"wake it up???" I've changed the fuel filter, timing is fine, checked
that the fuel gap wasn't bloking air entake, diesel additive to disperse
any water in the fuel, air filter isn't especially dirty. The engine
has about 120,000 miles or less on it. Suggestions please? Thanks!
