Sure sounds like they put the wrong thermostat in, or it's jammed
open/non-functioning.
That's the problem with not doing it yourself -- never trust a garage. My
wife's RAV4 was always taken to the dealer for oil change/maintenance while
under warrantee. The last time, end of warrantee and the 60K belt change, they
apparantly didn't put all the oil back in. Started making lifter noise a couple
months afterwards, I checked the oil for the first time (hey, it has never used
a drop of oil) and there was none at all on the dipstick.
They deny doing anything wrong, of course. Told us it was because we switched
to synoil. But there's no leaks, no burning.
I hate garages -- haven't taken any of *my* vehicles to one in over 30
years, ever since I paid for a ring and valve job which promtly seized as soon
as the 30 day warrantee was up.

Temp gauge used to always sit at the 2/3 mark; now I have prob's getting above the 1/4 mark in the city (my work commute is 25km, city driving) and only get up to 1/2 mark on the highway at 20km over the limit (of course, at this speed, I keep to the right lane to not get trampled by the semis & SUVs).

My concern is that when temps drop to normal winter lows (-10 to -15C) The Rattler may not even get to the 1/4 mark! Always thought that below-normal operating temps resulted in more wear and buildup of condensation etc.
