What about broken head bolts, weak head castings, weak crankshafts,
cracked blocks, non-roller camshafts with high soot load oil and no
bypass oil filtration?
I spent six months at Oldsmobile Powertrain engineering in Lansing Mi,
sitting 6 feet from the Midwestern region Dealer service rep from 1977-1986.
He told me EVERYTHING about the Olds 350D. It just was a CRAP design.
Period.
By 1985, they had revised it enough that it finally was a pretty good
engine,
but NO WAY was that a decent product in 78.
