[Vwdiesel] Old engines

I'm considering buying an old VW pickup, I have a
co-worker who can get ahold of one.  Right now,
supposedly it only needs a motor mount, which he says
he'll repair.

Anyhow, as far as I know of, it has been sitting for a
while, which makes me wonder about the condition.  I
think it's an '83, with 120k, but anyhow, what are
things to worry about in a sitting vehicle?  I'm quite
sure it runs ok, but I doubt it's started more than
once a month.
