[Vwdiesel] Re: dyeing fuel

One would think it is not just a visual check, but a test for the dye. I
always thought they would sample your fuel so any lingering untaxed fuel
could be detected rather then just straight dyed fuel. I am sure if you got
ticketed and disputed it they could actually test the fuel for dye
chemically or it would not hold up in court. I am positive that the dye has
certain properties that show once tested, it is more then just colouring. I
have never seen testing personally and as a family we have driven diesels
since 1975 (now we have 7!) in Ontario and Quebec. I am really surprised
they would even know what cars to pull over! (so how do they know-or is
there a sign saying all diesels pull over and you could ignore it?)

I get checked at least once a year by the local constabulary at roadside
"safety" revenue generating checks. At 300 bucks a pop for red fuel in a
road car, it's hardly worth getting caught.
I do live in Saskatchewan, home of the tax and spenders, so the rcmp are
just another branch of the provincial revenue generating machine... but
politics aside, yeah I can count on getting tested once a year anyway.
It's
an agricultural area, and the cops eyes light up when they see a diesel
car,
probably driven by a farmer who has access to reduced tax fuel. (not
non-tax
btw) They asked about the blue stuff too- the 2 stroke oil.
